Honorary Members

AEG confers an honor of such high esteem that the distinction is recognized as a special membership class: Honorary Member. This recognition is given to those persons whose careers have exemplified the ideals of our organization. “The Board may elect... as Honorary Members, persons who have contributed long, distinguished, and outstanding service to the advancement of Environmental and Engineering Geology…,” Bylaws Article 1, Section 1.5.

AEG's Operating Policies state that any AEG member may nominate a person for Honorary Member by submitting a written biography of the candidate including a summary of the nominee's academic and professional history, and the professional accomplishments. 

These professional accomplishments include:

  • Exemplary application, research, and/or teaching within the profession.
  • Leadership and responsible charge within the profession (practice, societies, and/or pro-bono service) and external to the profession which has brought recognition and/or credit to the profession.
  • Technical or philosophical innovations or advancements created by or sponsored by the candidate.
    Publication(s) of high merit.
  • Mentoring.
  • Exemplary regional, national, and/or international practice.
  • Integrity and ethics above reproach.
  • Previous recognition by the profession of the candidate’s contributions.

Nominations are due March 15 each year.
