The Orange County Water District operates an alignment of 102 injection wells to control seawater intrusion into the Orange County Groundwater Basin (Orange County, CA).  Throughout the past four decades various blends of injection water have been used and a variety of well designs have evolved.  Optimizing and maintain injection capacity has been challenging with many lessons learned.  This discussion will focus on the practical aspects of injection wells as it relates to maximizing injection well efficiency.  Operational strategies explored include:  injection water quality, injection well operation and maintenance, and well design and construction concepts.
