California State Geologist Jeremy Lancaster Speaker Meeting in Oakland
Topic: "Post-fire Geohazard Risk Management in California’s Warming Climate" When: 5:30 check- in, dinner and social hour. 6:30pm presentation Where: Line 51 Brewing Company, 303 Castro Street, Oakland Speaker Bio: Jeremy Lancaster has 26 years of professional experience, is a registered professional geologist and certified engineering geologist, and is the State Geologist and director of the California Geological Survey. He began working on burned watershed geohazards during the 2007 fire season in southern California while at the same time working on the CA Alluvial Fan Task Force identifying debris flow hazards on alluvial fans. Over the years, Mr. Lancaster has performed pre-fire alluvial fan mapping and modeling, emergency assessments, watershed monitoring, post-event observations, and has developed community planning tools for pre- and post- wildfire flash flood and debris flow hazards mitigation.
