The next meeting of the Utah Chapter of the Association of Engineering and Environmental Geologists will be March 8, 2018. Once again, we will be meeting at Red Robin located at 1313 Foothill Dr, Salt Lake City, UT 84108. Dinner/Social will begin at 5:30 and presentations at 6:30. The cost of attendance will be $5.00 and purchase of a meal will be up to the individual. This month we are pleased to have Scott Krug of Boart Longer talking about some of his recent adventures.

Note: This will be the last regular chapter meeting until next September 13. Your Utah Chapter representatives wish all a safe and productive summer! Also, we are soliciting ideas for future presentations and speakers. Please contact one of our chapter representatives with your thoughts.

Presentation - Steve Streamer, Shell Oil, Drilling Program Supervisor
“Stumbling Around the World Chasing Oil” (1980-2015)

Abstract: For 35 years, Mr. Streamer conducted drilling projects in Alaska, the Rocky Mountain over thrust belt, Gabon, Congo, Trinidad and Tobago, the Netherlands, London, Aberdeen Scotland, Sultanate of Oman, Caspian Sea in Kazakhstan, Western Siberia of Russia, Kansas, Texas, and Canada. His presentation, “Stumbling Around the World Chasing Oil,” will highlight some of the more interesting technical challenges he and his crews faced. These will include: constructing man-made islands in the Beaufort Sea Alaska, an offshore blowout in the Caribbean, high temp high pressure precautions and employing deep sea divers below 500 feet in the North Sea, and the drilling first Caspian Sea test well at cost >$2B.

Bio: Mr. Streamer received a BS in Chemical Engineering and a BS in Business from the University of Colorado-Boulder in 1979. Following a 6-month hiatus to teach skiing, he worked 8 years for Amoco and 27 years for Shell International Petroleum Companies in several capacities quickly rising to become a drilling program supervisor. While working in Scotland in 1999, he received an MBA from Robert Gordon University Aberdeen Scotland.
