AEG Technical Working Groups

Committee Responsibilities

Association Committees are formed and managed to provide service to the membership, as and when needed. Committee Managers should strive to meet the following minimal goals for each year of tenure:

a.)   provide the AEG NEWS Editor with a Committee activity report, news item, meeting notice, or important literature references each quarter;

b.)   seek to organize and hold symposia at Annual Meetings, and in cooperation or as a co-sponsor with other professional/technical societies and organizations;

c.)   organize and present individual papers at section and Annual Meetings;

d.)   promote the publication of Journal papers dealing with the specialty topic of the Committee;

e.)   innovate other areas of activity appropriate to the Committee; and

f.)    provide semi-annual report of activities, to the Vice President/President-Elect, at least 30 days prior to each Board of Director’s meeting.

 

Committees are activated or deactivated by the President, in consultation with the Executive Council and/or Board of Directors.  Managers are appointed by the President and Committee activities are managed by the Vice President/President-Elect, as Coordinator of Committees. Managers hold office for an indefinite period of time, based on personal interest and productivity, and the pleasure of the President.

 

Coordinator of Committees

The Vice President/President-Elect is the Coordinator of Committees and shall provide coordination among the committees; liaison between the committees and the Board; and distributing Association information to various committee managers.

 

Standing Committees

Standing Committees are permanent Committees that implement the objectives of the Association and provide continuity concerning certain business and administrative functions of the Association. The managers of Standing Committees are appointed by the President from among Members of the Association. Committee activities are generally reviewed semi-annually in the AEG NEWS.

 

 

AEG Technical Working Groups

Technical Working Groups are established by the President to pursue a technical task or engineering/scientific issue, which is of importance to the membership and in accordance with the objectives of the Association. The Managers of the committees are appointed by the President. Committee members are selected from the membership by the Committee Manager. Major goals of Technical Committees are as follows: 1. Monitor new developments in the special technical fields, bringing same to the attention of the membership through timely articles in the AEG NEWS and Website. 2. Cooperate with other professional/technical societies and organizations in organizing and presenting seminars and conferences on the Committee’s technical specialty. 3. Formulate draft policy statements and position papers for Board consideration in a professional and timely manner.

COORDINATOR OF TECHNICAL WORKING GROUPS

The Immediate Past President is the Coordinator of Technical Working Groups and shall provide coordination among the Groups; liaison between the Groups and the Board; and distributing Association information to various Technical Working Group Chairs.
