We’re trying something new. We’ve heard one section meeting a year in Raleigh is not enough for some of our members, and we agree! Let’s socialize in the summer, too, and see if we can put on a second meeting in Raleigh. After the great Reed Gold Mine field trip in April, the organizers thought we’d diverge from the usual talks on environmental and engineering geology and have a less-technical talk that follows the theme of precious minerals -- first gold, now diamonds.
With our state’s convoluted geologic past, we shouldn’t be surprised that we have diamonds, too. But where, and how? Come to the meeting and find out more. You’ll note we’re trying a new venue, too. Natty Greene’s was just too noisy.

Presentation: Yes, There are Diamonds in North Carolina

Guest Speaker:
Dr. Chris Tacker, Research Curator in Geology at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences

 AEG members $30, non-members $40, teachers $10, public-sector employees $15, teachers $10, students free with college ID
